Department of Environment and Resource Management

Overview

The Queensland Government Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) is responsible for the planning, allocation and management of Queensland's natural resources. Its responsibilities include promotion of sustainable living and resource use practices to:

  • conserve Queensland's natural and cultural heritage
  • combat climate change
  • secure and maintain water resources and water quality
  • manage Queensland's land resources including stock routes and land ownership
