Student Transport Survey

Suggested Teaching/Learning Activities

  1. Following a discussion about the information contained in the Transport Fact Sheet, students conduct a survey of transport and greenhouse gas emissions by individually completing the Student Transport Survey, then totalling the whole class results.
  2. Students calculate the class average for weekly greenhouse gas emissions.
  3. Students calculate the school's greenhouse gas emissions on a weekly and annual basis.
  4. Extension - students compare school greenhouse gas emissions from transport with other figures, eg. Data from a School Energy Audit.
  5. In class, students discuss and develop a plan to use alternative forms of transport and minimise fuel consumption.
