Planet Ark

Overview

Planet Ark is a not-for-profit Australian environmental organisation that is dedicated to educating and supporting business and the general public to reduce their impact on the natural environment and protect our planet through positive behaviour change.

Planet Ark runs a number of campaigns and initiatives suitable for school participation that advocate for the environment; some of these centre around recycling, while others aim to conserve our natural resources and habitats (outlined below).

Recycling

  • Cartridges 4 Planet Ark - to date this program has saved nearly 15 million printer cartridges from going to landfill. Material from recycled cartridges has been used to provide ink in pens, steel for fridges and to build park benches.
  • National Recycling Week
  • RecyclingNearYou - an online searchable information service that provides information about what you can and can’t recycle in your local area, as well as the locations of recyclers for a range of items, including white goods, furniture, printer cartridges and electronic goods.
