World Animal Day

First started at an ecological convention in Florence in 1931, World Animal Day (WAD) aims to celebrate the importance of all kinds of animal life and highlight the plight of endangered species. WAD is celebrated on October 4 each year, as this date is the Feast Day of the patron saint of animals, Saint Francis of Assissi.
