Sustainable House Day

Overview

Sustainable House Day (SHD) is an ongoing program started in 2001 as an initiative of the Australia and New Zealand Solar Energy Society (ANZSES). SHD provides people with an opportunity to visit homes that have been designed, built or fitted-out with sustainability in mind. SHD also aims to give people a chance to learn from each other, exchange ideas and experience first hand what is involved to make their homes more environmentally sustainable.

Students can use the website for ideas on energy-efficient design and materials for domestic dwellings.

Brisbane City Council also has a Building Sustainable Homes website with downloadable information.
