Queensland State of the Environment (SOE)

Overview

The Queensland Government, with the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection as lead agency, produces a State of the Environment (SoE) report every four years.

The reports describe:

  • the pressures acting on the state's air, land, inland and coastal waters, biodiversity, and natural and cultural heritage
  • the state or condition of the environment
  • the responses by society to reduce pressures and protect and conserve Queensland's natural and cultural heritage.

The reports are an important part of environmental management in Queensland. The information they provide helps the community, industry and government work towards improved environmental management and the sustainable use of natural resources.
