Earth Hour

Overview

Earth Hour is an annual symbolic event coordinated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It is designed to engage people from all walks of life in the climate change discussion and to send a message to political leaders to take meaningful action on climate change. The program began in Sydney in 2007 and now reaches more than one billion people in more than 4,300 cities and towns world-wide.

If Earth Hour has inspired you to look more closely at energy usage in your school, you may like to visit the Queensland Sustainable Schools website Tracking and Investigating Energy Use page to conduct a school energy audit or to look at case studies from other schools that have reduced energy consumption in their community.
